Therapy

Therapy is the essence of my work with you. I bring a warm and genuine atmosphere to therapy, where we work collaboratively for your well-being. I am here to support you through the exploration and comprehension of your concerns, helping you develop strong awareness and mobilise your own resources to create meaningful responses in your life.

My approach to therapy is personalised and evidence-based, taking into consideration your unique needs, values, and goals to guide us through each session. I draw upon approaches like:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but when touching a human soul, just be another human soul

Consent and Confidentiality

It is essential that you feel safe and respected throughout your journey. Therefore, therapy is based on consent and confidentiality to create these conditions.

Consent means deeply respecting you and how far you want to go in therapy. You have the right to choose what you want to tell me, as you don’t have to disclose everything about your life. Also, you are welcome to let me know if I ask you about a topic you don’t want to discuss.

Confidentiality means that I keep everything we talk about in therapy confidential. For young people under the age of 15, parents or guardians have the right to be informed about their therapy. However, I encourage them to respect the confidentiality between myself and the young person to preserve openness and trust throughout the therapy.

The only situations in which I have to disclose information are if a court subpoenas me or if we agree that you are putting your life or another person’s life at risk. In these cases, I will only share the information strictly necessary to keep the situation safe.

Fees and Rebates

The fee is currently set at $200 for a 50-minute consultation.

If you are eligible for Medicare rebates, your out-of-pocket expense is $103.35 per session.

Medicare helps cover the cost of psychological support. To be eligible for rebates, you
must be referred by your GP or psychiatrist with a Mental Health Care Plan. This will allow you to receive up to 10 rebates per calendar year. From 1st July 2024, the Medicare rebate for consultation with a general psychologist is $96.65.

In most cases, the GP will initially provide you with a Mental Health Care Plan that allows the rebate for up to 6 psychology sessions. Before your 6th consultation, you must return to the GP to review your plan, and they will provide you with a further 4 sessions. The GP requests a brief description and written professional opinion from me for consideration when reviewing your plan. Please visit the following website for more information.
